What it covers
Third party plus Passenger Legal Liability (PLL)
The standard PSV requirement. Covers injury or death of fare-paying passengers and other road users, on top of normal third party liability.
Comprehensive PSV
Adds own-vehicle damage, theft and fire to passenger and third party liabilities. Often required where the vehicle is financed.

Common exclusions — the honest part
PSV claims are often rejected where the driver lacks a valid PSV badge, the vehicle exceeds licensed seating capacity, or the inspection certificate has expired. We check these basics with you before cover starts.
Questions people ask
What is passenger legal liability?
It is the part of PSV cover that pays compensation if your passengers are injured or killed in an accident. It is separate from third party cover, which protects people outside the vehicle.
Can I insure a matatu without joining a SACCO?
Some insurers require SACCO or route membership, others do not. Tell us your route and we will match you to an insurer whose requirements you can meet.
Does the cover include the conductor and driver?
Crew are usually treated differently from fare-paying passengers. We can add personal accident cover for driver and conductor so everyone on board is protected.
