Common exclusions — the honest part
PI policies work on a claims-made basis — the policy active when the claim is made matters. Typical exclusions include dishonesty and criminal acts. Retroactive dates and run-off cover matter when changing insurers — we explain both.
Questions people ask
What limit of indemnity do I need?
It depends on your profession, contract requirements and exposure. Medical and legal regulators, and some employers, set minimums. Tell us your situation and we will guide you to a sensible limit.
Does it cover claims from work I did years ago?
It can — if the retroactive date on your policy goes back far enough and you have kept continuous cover. This is exactly why we insist on explaining retroactive dates before you switch insurers.
Is defence cost covered on top of the limit?
Often yes, but it depends on the policy wording — some policies include defence costs within the limit. We check this specific point for every PI quote.
